About
My name is Rosa Martyn.
I live in the UK and I spend my days with being an internet geek and an embroidery one too.
I am studying Hand Embroidery at The Royal School of Needlework in South West London.
I like to think I’m quite friendly, so please feel free to email me at: rosagmartyn(at)gmail.com

Hello my dear,
I am glad to hear that the RSN is still taking in those of us who the world doesn’t look at and instantly think ‘embroiderer’. Despite being too old (and married) I was offered the opportunity for an apprenticeship (though perhaps that’s not what they call it now: 2 years of study/one year on the workrooms) but chose the one year/three day a week program. This was back in 1997 mind you, but I still can remember most of what I learned!
Ah, the memories of trudging down from Russell Square down to Waterloo to catch the train, bashing into folk with my big frame bag…. People asked why on earth I was at the RSN since I already knew how to embroider so I would tell them it was to unlearn all my bad habits, which essentially was the case. Stumpwork had to be my favorite subject.
Study hard: you’ll get out of it what you put in. Your pictures and blog make me want to ditch my current projects and dig out the goldwork dragon I started 11 years ago….
Best regards,
IWOM
